The ROSEO program provides a great opportunity for us to bring hands-on experience to our students that they might not get to experience otherwise. It is also a good opportunity for me to increase my own knowledge of astronomy as well.

I want to be able to bring this enrichment opportunity to my students. Because of current budget issues, we limit our field trips. The Starlab offers a sort of "in house" excursion. This program will also help me to "broaden my horizons" in the field of astronomy.

Before I taught 4th grade I was a preschool teacher. I loved watching my little 4 and 5 year olds see something for the very first time. As children grow and have different experiences they lose that excitement of seeing something for the first time. When I taught space this year I was hoping for that same interest and awe. As 9 and 10 year olds they don't have that look as much as I want them to. I would like to show them something that would spark a new interest in space and giving them a new fuel for their fire. I feel that the Starlab would give them a new perspective on something they think they know everything about and allow them to open their minds to new ideas.

I had Starlab training a few years ago, but would like to review, and increase, my knowledge. We teach a unit on the solar system in 4th grade and I would like more ideas for activities, and a better knowledge base. Science is also my favorite subject! I think this program will be very interesting.

I hope to increase my knowledge of astronomy as a field of science and to learn some ways of helping elementary (especially 3rd/4th grade) students discover astronomy content. I'm also excited about the opportunity to bring the Starlab to our school to share with students and families.

I hope to gain more information about astronomy so I am mor comfortable with the subject. This would allow me to becomre a better instructor of astronomy and related subjects as well. I feel like I could gain a lot of knowledge and confidence in my skills as a teacher by becoming a participant in the ROSEO program :) !

I would like to be a part of the program because I do teach space and astronomy to the 4th grade. I feel I need to learn a lot more. I also feel this is important for the students to experience and bringing it here will help them.

Learning about astonomy and space is an area of great interest for students. This program will enable me to teach the Colorado State Science Standards with new resources, information, materials, and the Starlab planetarium. Many of my students have limited opportunities to visit museums and planetariums to learn about space. The Starlab coming to our school will be a great way to enrich my students' learning with this hands-on experience.

This is an exciting opportunity. When teaching concepts and/or skills, books can only take a student so far. This is a chance to bring astronomy alive, to enhance and enrich. Not only is it hoped that the students will benefit greatly from the experience, but it is an opportunity once again to enlighten my teaching experience, helping to bring real world activities to the classroom.
