Why should you care which browsers your customers are using? Your website may look different in different browsers and on different computers. There are web standards that define how a browser should display a website, but the companies that write the browser software don't always follow the rules. Sometimes browsers have "extra" features that aren't in the web standards, some browsers are slow, and some don't understand Cascading Style Sheets well. Even your customer's choice of operating systems will affect the way your website is displayed. Internet Explorer is very popular because it is automatically installed on Windows systems, but it has reliability and security problems and doesn't follow the web standards as well as other browsers. |
