Fort Collins Kite Festival, "Kites in the Park" 2011-04-17

This year Kites in the Park was held April 17 from 10am to 5pm at Spring Canyon Park, at the west end of Horsetooth road. We almost didn't attend the festival because there was almost no wind where we live near the east end of Horsetooth road. We arrived at 1pm and the wind was blowing and Spring Canyon Park was full of kite flyers. The winds reached 20-30mph which was too much for at least one of the larger kites. The festival was wonderful, and we would have stayed longer, but the rain started about 2:30pm causing most of the crowd to leave.

Over 300 kites were in the air when the festival organizers asked everyone to fly their kite at one time to set a new record for number of kites flying at once during a kite festival.
