Eagle headed deity
This carving is based on an Assyrian sculpture of their eagle headed deity.

Birth of Buddha
This carving is from 1 panel of a group of 4 on a drum slab that represent 4 events associated with the birth of Buddha, Prince Siddhartha. The original drum slab represents the finest work of second century Amaravati.Queen Maya is standing under a sal tree immediately after giving birth. Her hand is raised to grasp a branch. The baby Siddhartha is depicted symbolically as a long cloth with a pair of footprints upon it, held by 4 male attendants, the Lokapalas.
